Alfred Biasi Obituary

Alfred V. Biasi, a longtime resident of Palm Springs, Calif. passed away on April 27, 2010 at Desert Regional Hospital. Alfred was born in San Fernando, Calif. on July 21, 1925, the sixth of eight children to John and Mary Biasi. He graduated from San Fernando High School and later served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Following his military service, Alfred spent many years living in Italy with his Italian relatives. He was very proud of his Italian heritage. Al moved to Palm Springs in 1968. Among his many talents, Al enjoyed gardening, cooking and entertaining his many friends and family. With his curiosity for life, his infections laugh, and kind heart, Al "never met a stranger". He was last employed at Desert Regional Hospital. He is survived by his sister, Florence Brown of Aptos, Calif.; his brother, Roger (Barbara) Biasi of Llano, Calif.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, some of which reside in Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bruno and James Biasi; sisters, Ida Mayer and Evelina Biasi; and dear friend, Bill Smith. The family would like to thank Aura Nell Ranzau and Esther Mendoza for their tender, loving care and support. A Celebration of Al's Life will be held at a later date.

Al, was my uncle. I am Bruno Biasi's daughter. One of my earliest memories of Uncle Al was when I was a little girl and we were visiting Uncle Al at Grandpa's house. (The one in San Fernando with the beautiful green hedge aound it.)

Uncle Al bought me a pocket radio and gave it to me and one to my brother. My mother wanted me to give him a kiss when we departed in which I cried because I didn't want to. (Ha!)

I will remember Al as a very fun charming man. He had that hi pitched voice and Yes, I remember that he had a zest for life. I do remember him cooking great spagetti.

I am grateful that Uncle Al was granted a long life filled with many wonderful events. I have enjoyed reading others comments about him so that I could see a little bit of who he was.

Ever since I was born, the image of his smiling face, and sound of his warm conversation have filled my memory. I will miss him so much, and feel privileged to have had Alfred as my great uncle, my family.

To the family of Al Biasi,
On March 31st, we came into Palm Springs. We drove past Al's house and he was sitting on the front porch. I waved. We were going to settle in and then pay a visit to him. We had enjoyed a nice visit two years ago, heard all his stories of the desert floor in bloom, his friend Bill, Merideth's arrival, and that darn ginnea hen that would sit on our roof or chase us down the street. When we drove by again a motorhome was in the driveway and we had that sinking feeling. We rented Sylvia Wall's house back in the 70's. Al would put fruit and a bottle of wine in the refridgerator for our arrival. He would send a bag of grapefruit and lemons home with us. He told us to send back a box of our Washington Apples, which we did. In the past we would visit when we left PS and now .....at least we waved and giggled that he probably wondered if we were back. With very fun and fond memories of Al... Jim and Susan Wynans

I would like to send our families regards to the Biasi Family, for their loss of Al. I don't remember what year it was that he started with us at our family business getting his income tax done, but he had faithfully had my mother prepare them for quite some time. It is nice to see that Al was able to have a full life and not a short one at that. We know his family, friends and faith will see you through this loss.

P.S.-We don't want to forget his wonderful gift of an "Orange Bundt Cake" every year.

With All Our Regards,
