Kenneth Mattfeld Obituary

Kenneth Mattfeld of La Quinta, CA died on July 5, 2008 at the age of 85. He is survived by Elizabeth, his wife of 57 years; three children, Nancy, Kenneth, and Catherine; and his sister, Doris. Mr. Mattfeld was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy on a mine sweeper. He graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Noted for his devotion to detail, good humor, and dedication to customers, Ken rose from a sales representative to Vice President and Sales Manager of the Western region during his 29 years with American Olean Tile. He considered his greatest achievement however, as that of a husband, father, and grandfather to three grandsons and three granddaughters. Prior to moving West, Ken and his family lived in Upper Gwynedd, PA where he is remembered as Chairman of the School Board for the building of North Penn High School in Lansdale, PA. He moved to Rocklin, CA during his tenure with American Olean Tile and subsequently moved to La Quinta after his retirement. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the small chapel at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, Palm Desert, CA.
