I have fond memories of Dick as a kid. I remember being at the house at Lake Morton in Kent and Dick was teaching us kids how to play "dice." Well, us little kids lost the dice game to Dick and he got the whole pot! About ninety five cents total. A lesson in gambling for us all.
I also remember a time when I was about 4 years old, Dick and my Dad warned me about running on the dock and falling in. Guess what? I fell in the lake. My dad pulled me up and Dick said "I'll bet he won't do that again! He was so funny with a great sense of humor. The Ravet's always made a stranger or a newcommer to their house feel like a member of their own family and Dick was the leader in that hospitality.
I want to let Trudy and all of the kids and the grand kids know that I feel for their loss.

Dear Trudy & Family:
I am so very saddened to hear of Dick's passing. Thank you so much for thinking of me and tracking me down. It's so long ago but when we were kids he was the best friend a guy could ever have. He taught me how to drive out back of his folks house in Kent, picked me up early in the morning so we could go work the bean fields together and was my anchor when I went off to boarding school and he kept me connected to the kids in Kent. Peace and love to you and your family.
Dick

For those he touched briefly
You knew there’d come a day
That you would most certainly
Be left to say
To have not known him better
I will always regret
To that he would reply
You must not fret
Devoid of such concepts
As conquer and divide
He touched us with qualities
We must all stride
To accomplish our goals
In such a manner
Deserving of reward
And waving of banner
For one thing you knew
Rather partner or client
When it came to him
You could be reliant
That never would he stand
For mock or scoff
Those were the traits
You would have to put off
To see the deal through
On to the end
You must first and always
Be a good friend

For those he touched often
Friends, he had many
The one thing you knew
He’d be friend to any
For the tired the sick
The poor and afflicted
His love knew no bounds
And was never restricted
For those he’d be there
To lend solace or aid
With a caring in his heart
That never would fade
Along with these words
Please take with you
The knowledge you’ve gained
From this friend you knew
To have true courage
Left not for the faint
He’s shown us the abilities
Of compassion and restraint

To his children he touched
Who share his proud name
His greatest gift to you
Be not fortune or fame
Early on in life
He hoped you to see
From the time you sat
Perched upon his knee
You could plot out a course
In the right direction
Without the need
To strive for perfection
So open he was
To show you his fault
So that you could come
To one final result
This man you called father
This one special being
Was truly all knowing
And forever all seeing
When life does come
To times that matter
He wanted you not
To just be a batter
But to take your best swing
Be it fast ball or change
To be that person
With the greatest of range

For the one that he touched
The one so special
This surely not be
The proper vessel
To convey the feelings
He held within
For a deeper bond
There never has been
Your hearts joined together
By the holding of hands
And the passing of two
Symbolical bands
And on that day
Your great journey began
When he said I do
To his beloved Trudy Ann
And so on it will go
Through the passing of time
Expressed not in words
Not prose nor rhyme
But deep in the heart
And held in the soul
For you his love bell
Will always toll

For none knew him better
Or more complete
To you we would say
And forever repeat
Share with us this burden
Of sorrow you face
For this man we can not
Nor want not replace
For you we will be there
And stay with open arms
to remember the blessings
And all of his charms
With us we need
For you to share
Those times you had
beyond compare
The times you two
Would be together
And swear your love
For now and ever
And share and laugh
Or maybe a tear
But always with
No doubt or fear
That the two of you
Shall remain as one
Until such a day
There is no sun

For all that he touched
Who meant the world
For you we will leave
The flag unfurled
To show our true feelings
For you we do this
As a simple gesture
Of how much we miss
The times we had
The times we shared
For all to see
How much we cared
So as you go about
That daily grind
Just look to your heart
And you will find
The strength you need
To muddle through
Will come from this man
We loved and knew
If he could leave us
With one final wish
I’m sure it would be
For us not to miss
But to treasure the time
We all could share
With this man we knew
This man so rare

When the lord set out
To give us this gift
Our spirits he knew
Would forever uplift
All those around us
Who did not meet
This man who now
Sits at his feet
The life that he lived
Could not have been scripted
The lord now amazed
At just how gifted
This man who he carved
From silver and gold
Would set out to shatter
The unbreakable mold

The Ravet Family,
I was blessed to have met your family in high school and now work with Michele. It is so nice to see the love that your family shares. My thoughts and prayers are with your family as you go through this time in your lives. It is that loving family you have that will get you on to the next day and eventually the days to follow. May the precious memories keep you going until you're together again. The services today were the most beautiful celebration that I have ever been to. What an amazing gift Dick and Trudy gave to the church and many lives will be touched by that. Again, you are an amazing family and I was blessed to have known Poppie!

My name is Jeff Albrecht, I rememeber the times I used to visit Trudy and Dick at thier home on lake Morton, When Dick and Trudy bought thier property, in Thorpe, I remember how nervous they were. Turned out it was a great decision for them.
I will always have great memories of Dick.
And I wish Trudy all the love and respect she deserves and and she knows how much Dick loved her. He was a great man.
