Rose Mahaffay Obituary

Rose M. Mahaffay

Our loving mother Rose M. Mahaffay, age 103, of Palmetto, FL passed away peacefully at home on Sunday. She was born Rose Mary Wisniewski in West Pullman (Chicago) to John and Helena Wisniewski, one of eight children. She lived and attended school in East Hazel Crest, IL and met and married Albert Mahaffay of Palos Park, IL on Sept. 11, 1937. They moved to Los Angeles where Albert was on a football scholarship at USC. They raised three children in Montebello, CA schools where Albert was a teacher and coach, and Rose worked various jobs in the food industry. In retirement, they moved to Palm Springs, where Rose managed the Tea House on the 9th hole at La Quinta Golf & Country Club in Rancho Mirage. She retired at age 82. At 88 years old, she moved to St. Bonifacius, MN to live with her daughter Phyllis. In 2004, they moved to Florida where she lived out the rest of her life. Rose was a long time member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, her parents, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her three children, daughters Phyllis and husband Al Torres of Palmetto, FL, and Patricia and husband Randal Blasius of Bigfork, MT, and son John Mahaffay of Whittier. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Aug. 15, 2015 at Rose Hills Cemetery where she was laid to rest next to her husband Albert. We were blessed to have her for so many years.

I fondly remember Rose with her smiling face and helpful manner. We missed her at LaQuinta Country Club but she deserved her retirement. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Rose's family
