Sharon Lynch Obituary

Nov. 21, 1926 - Feb. 15, 2010 Sharon W. Lynch, longtime resident of Rancho Mirage, Calif. passed away peacefully at Eisenhower Medical Center after experiencing a stroke on the morning of February 14, 2010. She was 83. Born Sharon Lee Williams in Belle Fourche, S.D., she was the eldest of two children by Charles and Helen Williams, her younger brother was Jay Mortimer Williams. At 13, Sharon moved with her family to California and later attended the University of Southern California where she met Robert Lawrence Lynch, to whom she was married for 50 years. They lived in Palos Verdes, Downey, Beverly Hills, La Habra, Newport Beach and finally Rancho Mirage before he passed away from cancer in 1997. A longtime resident of Southern California, Sharon was an active member of Balboa Bay Club, Newport Harbor Yacht Club and Thunderbird Country Club. Sharon was an incredibly intelligent, loving, elegant, compassionate, lively and beautiful woman. In her early days, she modeled for the Ford Agency and was in the same Blue Book as Marilyn Monroe. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority at USC and continued to be an active part of their alumnae. She believed in service to her community and was seated on many boards at various times, including the Palm Springs Art Museum, The Muses of the Museum of Science and Industry and the California Science Center Foundation, and was a founding member of the Western Art Council, for which she was recognized with the George Montgomery Award in 2008. Sharon also sat on the committees which organized "The Bob Hope Classic Ball" and "The Eisenhower Medical Center 20th Anniversary Five Star Gala." Always up for a new challenge, Sharon would dive into projects with fervor. A business woman since 1968, she ran the family business, Perpetual Storage, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, following her husband's death. Sharon's greatest attribute, above all else, is that her family and friends came first. Sharon is survived by her sons, Michael and Patrick Lynch; her daughter-in-law, Susan Lynch; her three grandchildren, Bridget Somerville, Aubrey Lynch and Caitlin Lynch-Terry; her three great-grandchildren, Cody, Cooper and Sarah Somerville; her sisters-in-law, Jane Herman-McMahan, Bonnie Lynch, Ann Lynch and Barbara Lynch; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea. A Memorial Service will be held for her in Palm Desert in March. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Guide Dogs of the Desert, Children's Neurobiological Solutions or a charity of your choice.

Dearest Mike & Pat,
Your mother was a wonderful role model throughout
my life. When I was a child, her charm and
style made me want to be like her. Her calm, family affirming,
reasonable, way of problem solving has often made me
want to think like her.
I was blessed by the legendary friendship of our parents -
the four of them will live in my heart forever.
With love & affection,
Stevie

The poem on the first page could no more describe Sharon than any words I could ever utter…

From the minute I met Sharon, she impressed me as a tall, elegant and distinguished woman. Always sure of herself, articulate and resilient overall. Once I got to really meet her all my first impressions became even more affirmed, only to be cemented by the fact that she had great love and devotion to the causes she stood for, but more so her family. Michael, she adored. She was so proud of him and depended on him for her daily chores. Patrick, Susan and grandchildren were constant sources of joy and worry, yet tirelessly looked after them, as a good grandmother should.

Sharon never ceased to give and offer of herself, to be there when needed, even when she was the most at need.

Endless love and affection she had for others, mixed with humility and grace. She is a woman to remember.

Thank you Sharon for everything you have given to me and to Michael.
With love and respect.

I wanted to Share this poem with you, and tell you how special your mom was in my life...My heart is aching knowing that this graceful, beautiful women is not here with us...This poem helps heal my heart...I was so lucky to meet this beautiful lady, and will forever have her in my thoughts and memories...I am sorry for your familys' loss...

When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness
I thank you for the love you each have shown
But now it's time I travelled on alone.

So grieve a while for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call me and I will come
Though you can't see me or touch me I'll be near
All of my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone
I'll greet you with a smile and say
"Welcome Home"

God Bless you Sharon, Love Ken Stinnett and family..
