Marcos Orozco Vega "Memo", 96 of Snook went to her heavenly home on Friday, July 8, 2016. Visitation was held on Monday, July 11 from 6 pm-8 pm, with a rosary recited at 7 pm, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the church Tuesday, July 12 at 10 am with interment following at The Mexican Cemetery in Somerville.
A beloved mother and homemaker, Memo was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends to adore the bond of family and community. She loved to spend time growing a garden and planting and pruning flowers, as well as roses.
At a young age she was blessed with the gift of sewing clothing essentials for many of her brothers and sisters, then later had the delight of sewing and quilting for her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and a few of her nieces, nephews and friends.
Above all, Memo had an unwavering faith and prayed her rosary for the wellbeing of her children, family and all those in need. She leaves a legacy of life lessons, memories and will be missed dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cresencio L. Vega; and her brothers, Lorenzo Orozco and wife Juanita, Abraham Orozco and wife Aurelia, George Orozco; sisters, Guadalupe "Lupe" Arredondo and husband Jim, Atanacia Orozco and sister-in-law, Rosie Orozco.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons, Paul Vega, Valentine Vega and wife Tina, Lawrence Vega and wife Mary Jane; daughter, Maria De La Luz and husband Robbin Alcaraz; brothers, Ben Orozco, Miguel Orozco and wife Clementina; sisters, Domitilia Portales and husband Daniel, Mary Robledo and husband Ben, Phyllis Garcia and husband David; sister-in-law, Lucia Orozco; along with eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Frank Maldonado, Jr., Chris Arredondo, Pete Orozco, Danny Portales, David Garcia, Pete Orozco and Raymond Vasquez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frankie Vittonel, Carl Orozco and Robert Orozco.
