I am very saddened to hear of Dr. Ditton's passing. I was lucky enough to benefit from his wisdom, knowledge and generosity as an undergrad at A&M. I will always remember him with fondness and goodness, he was truly a force of nature. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He will be missed.

Bob and I were 'recs" at Cortland together. There are many college memories that I treasure but those of our core of 20 or so recs are the best. My thoughts are with Bob's family and the memories are all happy ones for me.

Dr. Ditton's role and contribution in the development of WFSC graduate students at Texas A&M are immeasurable. His course in human dimensions in wildlife and fisheries was among our most enjoyable academic experiences.
He was in many ways a patriarch to us as thesis and dissertation advisor, and committee member. Bob will be sorely missed.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Bob's passing. RBD was a fine role model and I have always appreciated his guidance and support as I worked with him as a post-doc in 1986-87. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I am sad to hear of Bob's passing. He was a significant mentor for me back in the mid '80s as I finished my doctorate and moved into this career. Though I didn't know him well, Bob reached out in ways that smoothed my transition--speaking with me at every conference, inviting me to be an Associate Editor for Leisure Sciences, and bolstering my confidence by acting as if my ideas mattered. I now regret never telling Bob how much his support meant to me during that period. Knowing that I am just one of many people he impacted this way, it's clear that Bob's influence on our field has been immeasurable. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and colleagues who are impacted by this loss.

I and saddended by the news of Bob's passing. Aside from having him as a professional colleague, as long-time friend I valued his advice and the fun we had together over the years. He will be sorely missed by me and my family.

More than a leader in his field, Bob showed us how to be leaders in our families and communities. I'm privileged to have known Bob and that he shared a part of his life with me so that I might try harder in my life. Penny, Megan and Allison, please know that my prayers are with you during this difficult time.

To Bob's Family and Friends,
I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. I had known him professionally for many years, as our mutual interests brought us together at conferences. He came here for Doc Sapora's memorial service, and I had the privilege of sitting next to him and chatting with him at length. I remember Bob so fondly as I'm penning these words as a kind and caring person, whose warmth emanated in so many ways. I will miss him, and I'm so glad that his work will continue to inspire and inform his many students and colleagues. My heartfelt condolences go out to each of you as we together mourn his passing and celebrate his life. I will miss him.
