Rudolph Pate Obituary

April 20, 1920 - November 18, 2012

Rudolph Pate, 92 was a lifelong resident of the Flo Community of Leon County, Texas. He was born there and he died there. Funeral services for Rudolph Pate are set for 2 pm, Tuesday, November 20, at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. The Rev. Dean Easterling, of Centerville, and Rev. Johnny Veretto, of Buffalo, will officiate. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery. A public visitation for Rudolph will be from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home this evening.

Rudolph Pate served his country during World Ward II in the U.S. Army. He served a little over four years and saw much action in the European Theater of the war. He won many medals including the Purple Heart and left the army as a Staff Sergeant. After the war, Rudolph worked over 30 years for the Texas Highway Department. He was ordained a Deacon at the Missionary Baptist Church in Buffalo and continued to serve as a deacon when he moved his membership to Calvary Baptist in Centerville. Rudolph was a gardener and rancher. He also enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Bertram Pate and Emiline Gertrude (Moore) Pate; a brother and sister-in-law, Ivan and Emma Pate; and a brother, Atha Pate.

Surviving family includes his wife of 67 years, Oma Marie (Woodard) Pate of Flo; a son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Cindy Pate of Flo; a daughter, Marilyn Pate of Buffalo; a sister, Gloria Garner of Buffalo; a sister-in-law, Jeri Pate of Thibodaux, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Alisia Folsom and husband, Terry, of Buffalo, Brandon Wier of Buffalo and Matthew Pate of Flo and two great grandsons, Seth and Landon Folsom.

The Pate family asks that donations to honor Rudolph's memory be made to one of the following: American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231; Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 416, Centerville, Texas 75833 or American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, Virginia 22311.
