Randall Compton Obituary
He was born April 9, 1951 in Van Wert to Gale R. and Vernabel L. (Murphy) Compton. On Feb. 14, 1970, he married Patricia "Trish" Pruitt in St. Marys and she survives.
Randy is also survived by: a daughter Machelle (Brent Delgado) McKinney of Lima, a son Dr. Michael (Tara) Compton of St. Marys, 11 grandchildre,; two great-grandchildren and his brother Ronald (Eve) Compton of St. Marys.
Preceding Randy in death were his parents, Gale and Vernabel Compton.
He was a 1969 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.
He spent his entire working career in the grocery industry, beginning at the age of 15. He worked at Marsh Supermarket and Brodbeck's Market in St. Marys, and eventually retired as manager of frozen foods for Chief Supermarket in Celina.
His favorite pastimes included fishing and driving around the Sandy Beach neighborhood in his golf cart. Randy enjoyed barbecuing with his son, late night golf cart rides with his daughter and going everywhere with his wife and high school sweetheart, Trish. He listened to Elvis Presley and gospel music while transporting his grandsons to to different sporting activities. He loved talking to everyone in the community. He never knew a stranger and would spend the majority of his time outdoors. More than anything else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Rites are scheduled to begin 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (state Route 703 West Chapel), in St. Marys. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Rev. John Mobley will officiate the services. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a luncheon at the New Start Church of God, 7729 state Route 127 North in Celina following the graveside services.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Randy was one of the first people to welcome us when we moved in next door to them in Sandy Beach. He was a great neighbor. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. We knew we were safe because Randy was out patrolling in his golf cart. Now he's keeping an eye on things from Heaven. We all loved him and will miss him. Prayer to his family and loved one.
