Jeanne Leo Obituary

Jeanne Marie Leo, 92, died peacefully Monday, September 23, 2024 at The Bird House Hospice Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Friday, September 27, 2024 at St. Peter's Church in Cosgrove. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Bird House Hospice Home. Jeanne was born in Cosgrove on April 1, 1932, the daughter of James and Cecelia (Meade) Burns. She attended Marycrest College and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa. On May 8,1970 Jeanne married Philip R. Leo in Newburgh, New York. Jeanne was a flight attendant with United Airlines from 1955 to 1990. Jeanne and her husband were longtime residents of New York City, where Jeanne was a volunteer with the New York Museum of Natural History and the New York Hospital Library. Her husband, Philip, died in 2018. In 2020, Jeanne returned to Iowa City to be near her loving family. Jeanne is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mary Lou Demvinski, twin sister, Celine Downes, Barbara Betar, Kenneth Burns, and James Burns. Online condolences at www.lensingfuneral.com.
