Chris,
I have been struggling lately with the fact that you are not here. I so badly wish you could be here with me to experience college and this crazy part of my life. However, going back and reading all of these posts reminds me of how many people you touched in your life and what a spark you instilled in all of us to keep a smile on our face no matter what. I love you so much and miss you more than words could ever explain. Through the power of prayer, we continue to stay in touch. I hope you're living it up there with all of our family and Jet.
Love you,
Carli

Hi Chris,
I just learned of the news... I know it is many months later but it really makes me sad. I can't believe how fast time passes. It seems like yesterday we were with your mom at the BUSH concert! I think that was 1995. I have such fond memories of growing up with you. The last time I saw you at the Speedway by our childhood houses still sits with me. You were a wonderful person. With a bright smile and exciting dreams! I am blessed to have known you. I trust that you are racing dirt bikes with the angels! God bless you and your family!

Dear Dan, Karli,and Sherri,
There is nothing harder than losing a child. Children are full of potential- they are our future. I will always remember the ball of energy that was Chris. The little towheaded toddler that grew up to be a handsome young man. My heart goes out to all of you. I can't profess to know how you must feel inside. But I can tell you how I saw things from the outside. Chris was surrounded by love and support-no matter what. He had not only the three of you, but step-parents, grand-parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many others he called aunts and uncles. I'm sure he knew how loved he was. Carli alone filled him up with lots of love. I'm sure he carried all that love in his heart no matter where he was.
When someone loses a loved one, they always think of what they could have done differently. I look from the outside and think that you did all you could. Remember all the good tymes, as there were many. And remember that Chris knew he was loved. I'm sure of that.

Dear Chris,
(Dan, Sherri,and Carli)
I am at a loss for words, but what came to mind when I sat down to write you was a poem that Uncle Tommy found on a headstone in a cemetery in Ireland the year before he passed away. He was so moved by the words that he took a photo of it. It was so prophetic and so fitting 8 years ago when we lost Tommy, I thought that it was appropriate for how we are feeling now having lost You.
"If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane, We would walk right up to heaven and bring you back again".
"Few farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why".
"Our hearts all ache in sadness and many tears still flow, What it meant to lose you, no one will ever know".
"But now we know you want us to mourn for you no more, To remember all the happy times life still has in store".
"Since you'll never be forgotten we pledge to you today, A special place within our hearts is where you'll always stay".
Love ya,
Kathy McDermott, Striupas,
Jim Striupas and Mom McD.
P.S. Say "Hi" to my brothers and sister for me.

Dan We were so saddened to hear of this loss. You are now a member of a club you never wanted to belong. I can say that I know how you feel it is the worst thing anyone can imagine. But you must always keep the good memories of Chris in your mind remember his smile and talk about him often tell Chris stories. ( I love talking about NIck) These things will keep his spirit alive. The biggest fear of a parent that looses a child is that he will be forgotten don't let that happen he has touched many lives and is loved by many. If you need to talk please call at anytime day or night. I am sure he will be missed
Also a hug for Carli I am so sorry.
Sincerely Trisha Kot

When Chris was around, you KNEW it. He was lively and funny, always sharing a dimpled smile and laugh. He LOVED to play! From the early days of being a Pee Wee Herman fan, costumes and voices, riding his red tricycle. He loved being at the HIGHEST point at any park on the tallest slide or the highest swing. He was a thrill seeker. He LOVED life and adventure and it carried into his young adulthood. "Catching air" on a hill was his goal. Chris' ZEST for living and his THRILL in doing it will be missed. I loved Chris for his uniqueness. He lived his life his way. I will miss his spontaneous visits and his exciting and energetic presence in our lives. I pray for strength through God's love for all who have been touched by the wonderment of the spirit that was CHRIS. (Aunt) Shelly Lamphear, Burr Ridge
