Michael A. "Mike" Levitsky, age 73, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1983, formerly of Detroit, MI, Darien, IL and Downers Grove, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL surrounded by his children. He was born on April 6, 1952, in Detroit, MI.
Beloved husband of the late Patricia E. "Patty" Levitsky (nee Parmet), whom he married on June 3, 1979 and who preceded him in death on December 28, 2014, loving father of David Levitsky, Katie Levitsky, Brian Levitsky and Amy (Justin) Barnes, adored grandfather of Jackson, Aidan and Ethan Barnes; Emilie Levitsky, devoted son of the late Alexander and Eugenia Levitsky, son-in-law of the late Helen and Bernard Parmet, dear brother of Sandra (John) Melville, brother-in-law of Cheryl Parmet and the late Mary (the late Bill) Biskup, loving uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.
Mike was born to his loving parents, Al and Jean, in Detroit, Michigan, where he spent much of his youth. After completing classes at Cass Tech, he moved with his mother and stepfather Ed to the western suburbs of Chicago, graduating from Hinsdale South High School. He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he studied chemistry and became a lifelong fan of the Wolverines. He later obtained an MBA in finance.
On his way to a Michigan football game, he met Patty, the love of his life. After marriage, Mike and Patty settled in Naperville and filled their home with four children: David, Amy, Katie, and Brian.
Mike put his chemical and business acumen to use at several companies, including Castrol, BP, and GEA WestfaliaSurge, rising to the level of plant manager. Mike enjoyed travel, entertaining, taking care of his dogs, factory tours, watching sports (Go Blue!), maintaining his home, reading, and playing video games with his grandchildren.
He passed very peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his children, and will be missed tremendously.
