James Louch Obituary

James J. "Jim" Louch, Sr.
James J. Louch, Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 90, on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was born in Joliet, IL, on November 29, 1933, the son of the late Benjamin and Hazel (nee Edwards) Louch. Jim grew up at Guardian Angel Home and attended St. Patrick High School in Chicago. Jim was a proud union member of Laborers Union Local 75. He then worked for Will County, retiring from the Land Use Department.
Jim had an amazing sense of humor and could make everyone around him smile. He enjoyed writing poems, watching westerns on TV and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a member of the Croatian Cultural Club and Joliet Township Seniors. He was the past president and lifetime member of Chaney Progressive Club, a lifelong member of the Moose Club and longtime parishioner and usher at St. Anne's Catholic Church.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Margaret (nee Shukle) Louch; his children, Joseph Louch, James (Audrey) Louch, Jr., Carolyn (Chuck) Willard, and Annette (Brian) Parker; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Benjamin Louch; sisters, Betty (Cal) Gergacz, Charlotte (John) Ligos, Roma (Steve) Kimak, Mary Lou (Buzz) Welter, and Shirley (George) Liker; and brothers, Joseph (Betty) Louch, Robert (Judy) Louch, and George (MerryJo) Grant.
Funeral Services for James J. Louch will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of prayers at 10:45 a.m. Following prayers, a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Raymond at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
