Norbert Joseph Krieger

"Norbie"

Age 85. At rest Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at his late residence. Born in Joliet to the late Henry A. and Catherine (nee Aschen-brenner) Krieger, he was a lifelong resident. A graduate of St. Patrick Grade School, attended Joliet Catholic High School and attended Mt. Carmel Monastery in Niagara Falls, Canada. A World War II U.S. Army Veteran. Prior to his enlistment, he joined the "C.C.'s" in Oregon. A Fourth Degree Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Trinity Council #4400., member of Stone City Post VFW #2199, Harwood Post American Legion #5 and former secretary of the Rivals Club.

Retired from Argonne National Laboratory in 1985. Mr. Krieger was a proud gardener, building his own greenhouse, growing vibrant plants and beautiful flowers. An avid Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed bowling, serving on numerous leagues throughout the area. Spent many summers at his home in Wisconsin where he loved to fish and visit with all the friends he had made there.

Surviving is his loving wife of 61 years, Roselind (nee Palmer) Krieger of Joliet; his daughter, Jackie (Edward) Valek of Joliet; two grandchildren, Lori Ann (Chad) Baum of Channahon and Edward Valek of Aberdeen, Scotland; three great grandchildren, Matthew Klott, Joshua and Casey Lynn Baum; his sister, Mary (Donald) Calahan of Joliet; sister-in-law Helen Krieger of Joliet; three generations of nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and neighbors also survive.

Preceded by his parents; six sisters, Frances (Daniel) Putthoff, Leona (John) Crowe, Louise (Arnold) Heintzelman, Lucille (Armund) Cormier, Virginia (Peter) Scholtest, and Loraine Krieger in infancy; one brother, Donald Krieger.

Funeral Services for Norbert Joseph Krieger will be Friday, July 27, 2007 at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses or Memorials in his name to St. Patrick Catholic Church or School would be appreciated. Visitation TODAY, THURSDAY, 3-8 p.m. at:
