"Bill"
Age 83, passed away on Monday August 30, 2022 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center with his family by his side.
Born on February 6, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY. Bill proudly joined the Navy at the age of 18 and served as a pilot as a Hurricane Hunter. He was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an inspector, retiring in 2001.
Bill was a member of the Will County Bee Keepers, American Legion Post 1080 and the Midwest Fruit Explorers. He was a true environmentalist at heart.
Preceded in death by his parents, William and Floretta Lorch.
Survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Betty J, (nee Hoppenworth) Lorch; three children, Debra (Paul) Holthaus, William E. (Sandy) Lorch and Amber Hoppenworth; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 2 nieces also survive.
A memorial gathering and celebration of life for Bill will be held at the Bird Haven Greenhouse and Conservatory, 225 Gougar Road, Joliet, Il 60432 on Saturday, September 17, 2022 beginning at 10 AM with a service at 11 AM. Private inurnment and military honors will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill's name to the Will County Animal Shelter would be appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home and Crematory.
