Nancy was born on March 29, 1927 in Bryn Mawr, PA where she lived for several years with parents, Claire and Ralph Goodman and her siblings. When her mother remarried Stu Crary, the family moved to Westport, CT in 1940. She graduated from Staples High School, met and married the love of her life in 1949, and together they raised their three boys. She and Don enjoyed many years of designing and building their home and gardens; collecting and restoring antique furniture and art and travelled extensively with family and friends. Nancy will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, strong intellect, creativity and charismatic art of story telling talent.
She enjoyed the love of family and a love of beauty; she developed passion for portrait painting, fine art, the opera and fashion. She studied oil painting with local noted artist, Samuel Brown and established a successful career as a prominent painter, winning numerous prestigious awards in national art organizations including the Allied Artists of America, The National Arts Club of NY, The American Artists Professional League and the Artist Fellowship of NY. For her many accomplishments in fine art, she has been recognized by and listed in Who's Who in American Artists.
Nancy also taught painting and was a devoted volunteer at the Norwalk Hospital, where she spent Saturdays for eleven years working in the Rehabilitation Unit painting portrait sketches of patients using art as a rehabilitative tool.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who took pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. We love her and will miss her dearly. In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her three sons, Kevin Reilly and his wife Leslie of Newfield, NY, William Reilly and his wife Laura of Enfield, NY and Peter Reilly and his wife Mary of Rye, NH; her grandchildren Colin, Marissa, Mia, Meg and Conor Reilly; sister-in-law Eloise Reilly and brother Richard Goodman of Honolulu, Hi as well as many nieces and nephews and their children.
