Christopher Avery Obituary

Christopher Noyes Avery
It is with deep sadness we share that Christopher Avery passed suddenly, but peacefully on April 20, 2023 at home. He was a loving husband to Karen Avery, devoted father to Kate and Michelle Avery, and brother to William, Carol, David Avery, predeceased by his parents David Avery, Anne York and his brother, Thomas Avery. He is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Born in 1955, Chris attended Rye High School and earned a full basketball scholarship to Bryant University. Chris had a successful career as an advertising sales executive, proudly following in his father's footsteps. Chris was a loyal friend to many and an avid sports fan, especially to the New York Mets, New York Giants and the Miami Heat. Chris enjoyed music, travel, boating and craft beers.
There will be a celebration of Chris' life on Sunday, April 30th at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Rowayton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in his name. To sign our online guestbook or to leave a condolence, please visit magnerfuneralhome.com

Having known Chris since we were 12, I marvel how our paths have intersected so many times over the years. ( I also marvel at how many different nick names he collected) From little league baseball, HS classes & sports and our lockers abutted each for four years in HS. We both took gap years after HS and he headed for Bryant and I to Richmond. He went into newspaper ad sales and I went into magazine publishing/printing. I moved to LA and we would grab lunch when he was in town and then he would treat when I got back to NY. We ( yes I have two daughters also...) moved to Fairfield 30+ years ago and we picked right up: we would golf together in warm weather and play paddle tennis together when it got cold. I know it will take time, but I'm having trouble visualizing life without him. Karen, I can only imagine the depth of loss you and the girls are feeling. The world will miss his ready smile, quick laugh and the adventures he had chipping around the green. Hard to conjure up the appropriate words, but as my Irish grandmother would say: I am so very sorry for your troubles.

I did not know Christopher, I had the priviledge of doing business with one of his daughters, Michelle, in a data matter at my current firm becoming a customer of her firm. May the memories you cherish be a reminder of how fleeting life can be and to enjoy and live fullest during the time alloted to each of us. Jason Koulouras

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always.

He was always Christopher to me since my sister, his cousin, was born a month later and named Kristine. He was always fun to be with and loved family both immediate and extended. I remember our summers in Aurora vividly and would always look forward to our time together. I will truly miss him
