Robert McCarthy

Former Norwalk Resident Robert “Bob” F. McCarthy, 82, of East Dennis, MA passed away Tuesday July 28, 2015 with his family by his side. He was the husband to the late Lila McCarthy who passed July 2, 2013, to whom he was married to for 56 years. He was born July 16, 1933 to the late Police SGT. William and Alice McCarthy of Norwalk. Bob was raised in Norwalk and graduated from Norwalk High School. Bob enlisted in the Navy in 1952 and served as a radioman aboard the USS Destroyer Fiske during the Korean War. He worked for Southern New England Bell Telephone Co. until he retired May 1, 1992. He married Lila on June 8, 1957 and lived in and raised five children in Norwalk. He is survived by his two sisters Catherine Gaynor and Jean Nichols, both of Norwalk; his five children Cheryl McCarthy of Elizabethtown, PA, Doreen (Walt) Eisenhower of Jersey Shore, PA, Robert (Rebecca) McCarthy of Gorham, ME, Pamela (Marc) Robinson of Waterboro, ME, Daniel (Josephine) McCarthy of Norwalk. Bob and Lee were blessed with eight grandchildren Robert McCarthy, Patrick, Ian and Leigh Ann Eisenhauer, Michael, Corey and Erin Robinson, Breanna McCarthy and a great grandchild Lily Robinson. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, August 5th from 10 - 11 am at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the Quivet Cemetery, South Street, East Dennis, MA. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff for the dedication and love they provided for our father during his stay.
