Alice Wetzel Obituary

ORD - Alice May (Severance) Wetzel, 84, of Ord passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at the Valley County Health System in Ord.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Ord Christian Church with Pastor Doug Durre officiating. Private inurnment will be at the Ord City Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to Pibel Bible Camp. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Alice May was born Dec. 2, 1936, to Clifton and Ferne (Anderson) Severance at Ord. She attended Olean Elementary School and graduated from Ord High School in 1954.
Alice was united in marriage to Billy Dwain Wetzel on April 15, 1957, at Minden. To this union four children were born.
Alice was employed at the Valley County Courthouse, where she worked as a secretary for Judge Rollin Dye. She then worked as the secretary for Ed Armstrong at the Insurance Company. Alan and Sherri Anderson purchased the Insurance Company and hired Alice in 1975. Alice worked for Alan Dale Insurance Company until her retirement in 2007.
Alice was a member of the Ord Christian Church, where she served as the Secretary, and she and Billy were the Nursery Sunday School teachers for 30+ years. She was involved in several groups over the years, including a painting group, and enjoyed bowling. The couple was involved in an active card club for a number of years. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved to be with her grandchildren. They were ALL very special to her.
Survivors of the immediate family include her children and their spouses, Gregg Wetzel (Jan), Glenda Tietjens (Bill), Alicia Thomsen (Scott), all of Ord, and Gloria Golike (Kevin) of St. Joseph, Mo.; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene Severance of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Caroline Kinney and Evelyn Wampole, both of Burwell; two sisters-in-law, Barb Severance of Greeley and LaRue Swanson of Pahrump, Nev.; and two brothers-in-law, Ronald Hans of Alameda, Calif., and Jack Wetzel of Boardman, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy; a grandson, Jamie Bloom; an infant great-granddaughter, Jordan Wetzel; two brothers, Donald and Cecil Severance; and two sisters, Marie Kazeck and Donna Marshall.
