John Tasich, 75, of Grand Island, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 13, at All Faiths Funeral Home, with Dan Naranjo officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home's website. Visitation will be held from 5–7 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, also at All Faiths Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family, to be designated at a later date for a scholarship. John was born and raised in South Omaha and graduated from South High School in 1969. During high school, he worked at a drug store and as a golf course groundskeeper. He went on to attend Kearney State College, earning a BA in Education. While in college, he served as a resident assistant, worked for a construction company, a lumberyard, and a grocery warehouse.

In September 1971, at their first college dance of the year, John met the love of his life, Lynette Krull. The couple later moved to Grand Island and were married on September 21, 1975. John began his career at Chief Industries in July of that year. Over his 42-year tenure, he held numerous roles, including Drafter, Head of the Drafting Department, Project Manager, and Customer Service Representative, retiring in 2016.

They were blessed with two sons. John took great joy in attending his sons' activities as they grew up. In recent years, he rarely missed an opportunity to support his three grandchildren in their events. He was a proud member of the Grand Island Rifle Club for more than 40 years, contributing to many projects and serving in leadership roles. He especially cherished the camaraderie of the Tuesday Morning Shooters. John was also an avid sports fan, enjoying NASCAR, shooting sports, football, and especially Nebraska volleyball.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lynette; sons, Nick of Grand Island and Todd (Amy) of Yutan; grandchildren, Charlie, Clara, and Collin; brothers -in-law, Dean (Nancy) Krull of rural Hastings and Joe Zanski of Kansas City; as well as a nephew, nieces, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Daisy (Zvezdich) Tasich; his brother, James Tasich; father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Muriel Krull; and his sister-in-law, Beverly Zanski.
