Shirley A. Leth, 84, formerly of Grand Island, NE died Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Bethany Home in Minden, NE.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2024 at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Rev. Kelly Karges officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul, NE. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Bethany Home in Minden.
She was born on May 22, 1939 in Elba, NE to Harry and Angeline (Alexander) Leth. She grew up in Grand Island and received her education from the Grand Island Public Schools.
Shirley and her sister Darlene went to live with their grandparents Alva and Jessie Alexander after the death of their mother. Shirley continued to live with her grandparents and cared for them until their deaths. Her two aunts, Ruby and Berniece Alexander retired in Grand Island and Shirley cared for them until their deaths. Shirley spent her life caring for others.
She enjoyed watching Nebraska Football, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Hallmark movies.
She is survived by her cousins: Charlotte Harders, Grand Island, Gary McAllister, Holdrege, Cheryl Linden, Holdrege, Alex Linden, Holdrege, Laura Linden, Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Alva and Jessie Alexander, aunts Ruby and Bernice Alexander, aunt and uncle, Grover and Tillie Alexander and sister, Darlene Mason.
