Fay Mawhinney Obituary
Fay L. Wallace Cashmere Mawhinney, 84, of Butler died Sunday.
She was the beloved mother of Cynthia Morgan (Reid), Edward Cashmere Jr. (Jaqueline), William Cashmere (Linda), Drew Cashmere, David Cashmere, Carolyn Poeppel (Norman), Brian Cashmere (Audra), Kristen Cashmere, Neil Cashmere and the late Richard Cashmere; loving stepmother to many stepchildren; and grandmother to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, June Boyd.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Cashmere Sr., and her second husband, Charles Mawhinney.
MAWHINNEY - Arrangements for Fay L. Wallace Cashmere Mawhinney, who died Sunday, July 31, 2011, are private and have been entrusted to Worrell Funeral Home, Pittsburgh.

Mom, it's 13 years ago that you left us to be with Dad & Chuck, & how I miss you with the ornery sparkle in your eyes.
You'd be delighted with your beautiful great granddaughters, Rhonwen & Lilith. Both are cute, intelligent little girls, mischievous, too.
I hope to move back soon to Western Pennsylvania. My soul is in the green hills of that area. To live on a wooded property with wildlife & the opportunity to grow native plants. To sit outside & listen to the birds & insects.

It tears me up, but it is a happy memory. Daisies and yellow roses were your favorite flowers. It's been three years, but you will always be with me in my heart. I miss Mom too. I remember all the good times & the bad times, but mainly the good times. We had such fun. I remember anchoring to the roof of the Vega a huge Christmas tree. And blackberry pie from berries my brothers picked. And the sweltering un-airconditioned kitchen canning everything from green & yellow beans to peaches to applesauce to tomatoes to strawberry jam. And sauerkraut & pork every Saturday during fall & winter. And the Halloween tree costume she made for me when I entered a contest & won on KDKA TV, a kids' show called "Funsville" with Josie Carey, Stirling Yates, & Johnny Costa. And she never wanted to learn to knit (I love knitting & have since high school days.) because she thought it was for old ladies. And how embarrassed I was & how amused she was when a cashier told us that Neil looked like "Grandma."
