Todd Welch Obituary
Todd V. Welch, age 54, lifetime resident of Interlaken, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Todd was born in Waterloo, on April 30, 1962, the son of Ronald and Joan (Carmell) Welch. He attended South Seneca High School, and before graduating, knew that he just wanted to go to work. Todd owned and operated Welch Construction, throughout all of the Finger Lakes Region and had a work ethic second to none. He was very community minded, and volunteered for Interlaken Olde Home Day Festival, 4-Towns sports events, local food pantries, and Welch Construction was the sponsor of the Interlaken Fireman's Car Show for several years. He was very interested in local history, and had been actively involved with the Backbone Ridge History Group. His memberships included the Interlaken and Ovid Sportsmen's Clubs, the Eagles in Okeechobee, FL, and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Cassie; his daughters, Mackenzie and Madison, and a son, Shane Farr; his parents, Ron and Joan Welch and a large extended family. Todd was preceded in death by his brother, Steve in 1995. He was known for his dedication to his career and his unconditional love for his family. To all those who knew him he will be remembered for his love of life, his "fictional" but true stories, the only one known to have a birthday everyday (expecting a birthday cocktail) and a personality that could light up a room. He will be forever missed to all those fortunate enough to have known and called him "friend".
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00pm on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Ovid Federated Church, 7137 Main Street, officiated by Pastor Jim Yao of the Lodi Presbyterian Church. Prayers of committal will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken. To Todd's family, please know that this sweet pond dug out in August of last year will be well loved and cared for by me - Todd did this for me and I was going to send him the pix today but then I learned the news of his death. I consider myself lucky to have had his help and like everyone says, he was kind and hopeful and easy to work with. Condolences to all of you for this big loss.

Todd did a lot of work on our farm. We spent a lot of time over a few years making roads, shore wells, levies, ponds. He was an artist and a journeyman. We became good friends. His departure is truly saddening. We will remember his sense of humor as we heal.

So incredibly sorry that we just found out about Todd's death. He did lots of work for us at our home and we were very fond of him. We could always count on him to be fair and do a great job. I'm so very sorry.

I met him at the eagle many years ago and we have been friends since. One of the first people I got to know when I came back to NY after I got out of the military. Todd will be greatly missed as a neighbor and friend going back many years. As a hunting buddy, pool pardner, fellow lover of the outdoors and fine spirits, he couldn't be matched. Among his legacies are three repaired and one newly constructed farm ponds. We are so sorry and pray for peacefulness and acceptance for his friends and family.
