Mr. Robinson gave me my first job in baseball, and I will always be thankful for that. He was also a tremendous 'straight shooter' and a caring individual who I greatly respected.

Eddie was an incredible friend and neighbor. I did not get to meet him until 1988 and missed his baseball career. But we did spend lots of time on my back patio smoking cigars and listening to many incredible stories about baseball and life. He was a force for many years helping retired players through the MLB charity golf tournaments where I got to meet so many of the older players thanks to Eddie. We enjoyed many baseball games in his seats behind home plate and he was so gracious to invite me to Scottsdale for spring training and golf with many current players. We did have a lot of fun on Tuesday nites playing cards at Woodhaven. No doubt he was one of the best that baseball ever had. Our condolences to Bette and the boys.

He was the nicest and most generous person I ever met, other than my grandfather who raised me. I was able to visit with him and Ms. Betty last year during the Covid lockdown. I even got a picture of all 3 of us! I was a renter at his property in Bastrop. We visited just about every time he came to visit. When I was about to move out, he offered me a piece of his property to purchase at owner finance. From that point forward we were friends. I would tell him of my Goals in life and he would tell me stories and talk business with me. Eddie, you will be missed on earth, but think of all the ball players you are playing with again in heaven!! Love you, always!!

Love Eddie's picture on the 1950 Bowman baseball card. The stereotypical firstbaseman of his time. A Slugger and a pleasure to watch.
