William Boynton Obituary

INDIAN LAND – William Edmond "Bill" Boynton, 91, of Indian Land, died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.
Bill was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada, to the late Cecil and Katherine Boynton.
Bill served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII in Asia and Europe. After the war he returned to Canada and worked as a schoolteacher. In his spare time he enjoyed working as a referee for the Canadian Football League, the professional league in Canada.
In June of 1953, Bill married Dolores "Dee" Magdalen Heuer. They raised four children together, Cecilia, Gary, Roberta and Patrick. Bill and Dee were happily married for 27 years before Dee passed away in 1981.
Bill had a very successful career with State Farm Insurance Co. for more than 36 years. Early in his career, he was able to obtain a law degree from La Salle University, while working. Bill served in many capacities with State Farm and had a lasting impact on many of those he worked with. His final responsibility before retiring was leading the Florida Region for State Farm. He loved the people he was privileged to work with throughout his long career.
Prior to retiring from State Farm, Bill was blessed to meet and marry Audrey Perry, the second love of his life. They were married in 1983. Audrey and her daughter, Jane and son-in-law Walter, as well as son, Jac, and his wife Paula, along with their children and grandchildren brought a tremendous amount of joy to Bill and his family. The two families became one.
In retirement, Bill served on several community boards and in many children's charities. He truly loved and cared for others and always strived to make a difference in the world. Bill had a passion and love for the game of golf and spending time on the golf course with his many friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Dee; his second wife, Audrey; his brothers, Robert, Arthur and Richard; and his son, Gary.
Bill is survived by daughters, Cecilia Raak, Jane Hardin (Walter) and Robbie Boynton; and sons, Jac Clutter (Paula) and William Patrick Boynton. He is also survived by granddaughters, Elizabeth Woodlief (Kurt), Jessica Raak, Abigail Ellis (Billy) and Hannah Doss; and great-great-granddaughters, Olivia Woodlief and Clair Ellis.
A memorial mass is noon Monday, Jan. 8, at Our Lady Of Grace Church in Lancaster. After the service Bill will be interred at the Columbarium at Our Lady of Grace.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at Tavern at the Lakes at Carolina Lakes Golf Club inside Sun City Carolina Lakes between 1:30 and 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8. Friends may feel free to drop in any time during this time at the Tavern.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Children's Hope Alliance of NC, Our Lady of Grace Church or a charity of your choice.
