Tiffany Ferguson Obituary

Ferguson, Tiffany Anne; 42; of Kalkaska; woke up each morning to the lovely chaos that was her passion – homework, library books, backpacks, lunches, 4-H, hockey, and all the other things that define motherhood. That was lost Tuesday, November 18, 2014, when she was taken from this life much too soon. Tiffany was born September 14, 1972, in Traverse City, MI. She graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1990, and later earned a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University. She worked as a lab technician at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. She was the devoted mother of Emma, 13, Madalynn, 11, Nolan, 9, and Caroline, 3, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by her mother, Shirley Webber; her grandmother, Louise Eckler; and her many uncles, cousins, and friends. Her father, James H. Webber, Jr. shared Tiffany’s date of death. She was preceded in death by her biological father, Michael Lee Eckler; her grandparents, Harry Eckler, Dorothy and William Musser; and other dearly loved family members. Tiffany was known for her upbeat spirit and lived to be a great role model for her kids and others around her. She did all she could to improve her community including working to create the Kalkaska Area Hockey Association and serving as a member of the board. Of late, she found running to be a passion after joining the Pathetic Run Group. She recently completed her first half marathon. She ran almost every day up to 10 miles. She was named 2012 Mother of the Year by The Leader and Kalkaskian because of the values and ethics she was teaching her children. She taught them right from wrong, the difference between their needs and wants and the value of hard work. In her words “you have to show them by example; you can’t just harp on them and expect them to learn.” And showing her children by example is how Tiffany lived. She worked hard and strived to be a good person. She showed them that enjoying life and doing your best is more important than winning. A Memorial Service for Tiffany and her father, Jim will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Kalkaska Church of Christ, 1725 W. Kalkaska Rd., Kalkaska, MI 49646. For information about any additional service or visitation, please visit www.kalkaskafuneralhome.com Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Memorial contributions can be made to the Tiffany Eckler Ferguson Memorial Fund to support the needs of her children.

My brother called from 3800 miles away and said "He heard about Jim and Tiffany. Was it really true? ." I cried yes. He said "I remember Tiffany coming across the fence and I showed her how to throw fast balls and curves. She was so little." Jim, Shirley and Tiffany always lived next to my folks, until my folks moved years later and sold their place and land to them. My Dad called them "The 3 Musketeers", always busy outside on their land, enjoying life. They were great neighbors for my folks. I am so sorry that such a wonder as Tiffany, like her dad, died so tragically. But neither went to Heaven a lone, they went together. I am so thankful Shirley and the kids are together to comfort and live as close as ever, forever. I can picture everyone in Heaven running to meet them. Tiffany, is now where she had to obviously go too soon to be safe. I am so sorry, so VERY sorry. God bless the 5 of them and the rest of the families.

For Tiffany and to her precious children. My heart aches at the thought of what happened to you. I have been running for you, and not a day has gone by since this has happened that I haven't thought of you and your family. You have left a legacy of a loving mother and Mother of the Year for your children. You left a legacy of getting healthy and running and your smile from your running photo says all that we needed to know. My family and your running family has been mindful, thoughtful and prayerful for your children and the life you lived. We will always love what we knew of you and you will always be a part of our memories and thoughts. May your children, mother, family and friends be blessed because of you.

Tiffany, your absence has hit many hard...that of your running friends, your local community, your family and your closest friends. You have brought together so many, started so many conversations that have needed to be spoken, have made so many feel and think and act. Your death has impacted so many through your story, your courage and your children; your name will live on in the hearts of those who knew you a day, a lifetime and even those who only wish they'd had the opportunity to know you.

I am honored to have had a chance to know you a little. Run free, run brave, my PRG sister.
