Funeral services for Ralph Hughes Elliott, age 91 of Adams, will be Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 2 p.m., at Sykes Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Stovall will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sango Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and again on Sunday from 1 until the time of service at Sykes Funeral Home.
Mr. Elliott passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital, Alive Hospice.
He was born on June 2, 1921 in Montgomery County, TN to Richard Carney Elliott and Mary Winters Harris Elliott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Smith Elliott and his son, Larry Smith Elliott. He was a member of Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an Elder. He was a retired mechanic from Jenkins and Wynne, and was a veteran in the US Navy and served in WWII.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Jamie Michelle (Aaron) Denton; grandsons, David (Keisha) Elliott & Scott Elliott; brother, Carney Harris (Anne) Elliott; companion, Laura McElfresh; daughter-in-law, Kay Elliott; 3 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Elaine Shell, Avery Elizabeth & Hudson Hughes Elliott.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Denton, Charles Cook, Mike Smith, Van Smith, John Medley, Mike Davis, Jimmy Davidson.
