KNOX, 87

PLANT CITY - Mr. Benjamin T. Knox, 87, of Plant City, Florida, went to be with his Lord on October 13, 2011 due to a stroke.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Edith Sylvia Knox; children John Tracy Knox, Benjamin H. Knox (Kerri), Pam Walden (Dan), and Lisa Hughes (Garry); grandchildren Natasha, Beau, Kaitlin, Kaycee, Travis, Joshua, Robby, Carson and Carly; great-granddaughter Brooke; and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Hassie Knox; grandson Kyle Hughes; and sisters Ruth Jacoby and Juanita Simmons.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during WWII in the Pacific Campaign as a bombardier and a nose gunner on the B-24 Liberator, and was stationed on the island of Tinian when the Enola Gay departed for Hiroshima. He worked at Benford Stationary and K.T. Jones Company of Lakeland in the office supply business, and as a teacher at Erwin Technical School of Tampa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 17 at 11:00 A.M. at Plant City's First Baptist Church, 503 N. Palmer Street, Plant City, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment to follow at Springhead Cemetery, Lakeland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation, and/or Plant City's First Baptist Church Building Fund.
