Cora Roundtree Obituary

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Cora Lee Roundtree of Lakeland, who died of cancer Wednesday (June 8, 2005), was a mother willing to make sacrifices for her children. She was 57.Born in Lakeland, she was a lifelong resident of this area.Mrs. Roundtree's son, Larry Roundtree II, credits his mother with his career."I'm a minister now," he said. "She always took us to church every Sunday," where she taught Sunday school.Mrs. Roundtree enjoyed family gatherings."She is the reason we stay close," her son said.Larry Roundtree said his mother was unselfish."At dinner time if anybody wanted anything extra, she would give us her last helping," he said. She did not shop excessively or wear expensive clothing. Everything went to her children, her son said. "It turned out to make us wellrounded adults."She was a nurse for Grace Health Care for 15 years. She also worked for Lakeland Regional Medical Center for 10 years. She was a member of Greater St. Paul MBI Church. She was a member of Nurse's Guild, choir and Evangelism Team.Mrs. Roundtree is survived by her husband, Larry Roundtree I; daughter, Toyka Roundtree, Lakeland; son, Larry Roundtree II, Lakeland; daughter, Katina Roundtree, Lakeland; sister, Maxine Scott, Lakeland; four grandchildren.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Greater St. Paul MBI Church. H.W. Oldham Funeral Home, Lakeland.
