WALKER, 90
Real Estate Broker and Former Mayor of Lakeland

LAKELAND - Curtis Irvin Walker, of Lakeland, died February 2, 2008 from cancer. He was 90 years of age.
He was born on March 12, 1917 in Tampa., FL. Mr. Walker was a Real Estate Broker and a member of the Lakeland City Commission from 1977-1982. He was Mayor of the City of Lakeland in 1978. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, a Shriner, and he was also a Mason. Mr. Walker was an Army Veteran in France during WWII and he was a Master Cabinet Maker and an avid woodsman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lakeland.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rubye McCranie Walker. He is survived by his daughter; Donna Walker Cassidy and son in law Thomas of Lakeland; 2 grandsons; Curtis William Cassidy and wife Kimberly Marie Cassidy of Lakeland; John Thomas Cassidy and wife Dayna Barlow Cassidy of New York City; granddaughter; Rachel Cassidy Hollis and husband Justin Mercer Hollis of Lakeland; 2 great grandchildren; Jackson Thomas Cassidy and Katherine Grace Cassidy of Lakeland.
Family will receive friends on Monday February 4, 2008 from 6 - 8 p.m. at his daughter's home, 1249 Lake Point Drive. Services will be held on Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. with the interment to follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. Donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale at 105 Arneson Ave 33823.

With admiration and sorrow. We lived across the street from Mr. Walker. We enjoyed his quiet spirit and kindness. He would always greet us with a smile and a kind word. He will be greatly missed.
