DAVID BIEBER Obituary

DAVID BIEBER, 62
Walgreens

WINTER HAVEN - David Bieber, 62, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Tampa General Hospital, surrounded by his family.
A recent retiree, David spent his life doing the things that he loved: Laughing, Loving, and Helping those in need. He was a man of great compassion and patience, with a boyish grin that could give you hope even in the midst of despair.
David was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in 1952 to Gene and Ann Bieber. The open heart surgeries he survived in his childhood paved the way for the strides made in cardiac surgery technologies today. He was a 'pioneer patient' in pediatric cardiology and his survival was a continual miracle.
A Navy dependent, Dave lived on both the east and west coasts while growing up. He graduated from Middletown High School in Middletown, Rhode Island, in 1971. He married Linda Scheck and together they settled in Winter Haven, Florida, where they raised three daughters, Heather Lynn Bieber, Cassandra Leigh Bieber Malone, and Katelynn Elizabeth Bieber.
A believer in Christ, Dave was a lifelong Methodist and called Beymer Memorial UMC home. He was a supporter of the Chorus at the Winter Haven High School - coordinating and leading many fundraisers to benefit the WHHS Chorus enabling them to compete in state and national competitions. He and his wife established the Katelynn Elizabeth Bieber Scholarship in memory of their youngest daughter, Katie, a former member of the group. The scholarship was awarded each year to the graduating WHHS Chorus member who best exemplified those attributes they believed their Katie had shown: Hard Work, Determination and Perseverance.
Dave was an avid bowler and as a member of the Sparks Construction Services team at Cypress Lanes, traveled to National Bowling Tournaments all over the country. He was a diehard Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan and charter season ticketholder.
He worked for several restaurants in earlier years, but made a career in retail with Walgreens. His commitment to excellence, to fairness, and to his fellow coworkers made him a favorite at the stores where he worked. He made it a point to know his customers by name and it was not at all unusual for him to be recognized around town. He was kind and charming and believed in the good in all.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Scheck Bieber, his parents Cdr. and Mrs. Gene L. Bieber, his sister Ginny (Dija) Dubose, his daughters Heather Lynn Bieber and Cassandra Leigh Bieber Malone, and his grandchildren Emma Victoria Bieber, Zara Rachelle Malone and Syann Leigh Malone. He is also survived by Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Scheck, Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Donald Silvia and family, Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Scheck III and family, and Ms. Lee Cordoza and family. He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter Katelynn Elizabeth Bieber and will rest beside her in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale, FL.
Visitation is set for Sunday, January 4, 2014, from 2 PM to 4 PM at Glen Abbey/Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home at 2198 K-Ville Avenue, Auburndale, Florida. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2014, at 11 AM at Beymer Memorial United Methodist Church at 700 N. Lake Howard Drive, Winter Haven, Florida. Burial will immediately follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale, Florida.

I met Dave a long time ago. I worked at Walgreens and liked him the minute we met. His family was so good to me. They always remembered me after I left Walgreens. I would drive all the way across town to the store Dave worked in. He always had a smile and took the time to ask how I was and always asked about my family. such a wonderful person. He will be missed

Me at 17. Love u Katie and Can.

To all family and friends: I wish that there was something that that I could say to ease the pain that comes with such loss. But there is true hope and comfort promised by the true God where he promises to do away with tears that are the result of pain and sorrow.

You made such a difference in my life. When everyone else gave up on me, you never did. You are the reason I have the work ethic I do today. You griped, argued, counseled, but most importantly, you believed in me. You told me that you saw potential and knew I could be better and do better than what I was. I got to thank you 2 yrs ago and I am so happy that I got the opportunity to do that and I say with pride that you are my friend. I will miss those big hugs that you always gave and I thank God that I had the opportunity to know someone as amazing as you. Thank you for everything, but mostly, thank you for believing in me. Your forever in my heart my special friend and former boss. I love you.
