MANSELL, 64
PLANT CITY - Gary A. Mansell, 64, died on December 22, 2018. Gary was born in Ontario Canada on June 5, 1954.
Gary Moved to Florida where he opened Dry Dock Inc. in 1980. In the years following, Gary adventured everywhere from the Appalachian Trail to the Caribbean Islands. When he returned to Florida he partnered with Tampa Forklift Inc. in 1994. In 2012 Gary moved to Plant City. Gary was an adventurous soul and loved racing, flying, and nature.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Chloe and Tatum; his sisters, Gail Mansell and Gina Rausch; step-sister, Carol Bennington; step-father, Bill Evens; his girlfriend, Lucy; and her children, Jamie, Damian and her grandchildren, Riley, Liyla, and William.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on January 4, 2019 at Gentry Morrison 3350 Mall Hill Drive Lakeland, FL 33810. Memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm.

I'm so sorry to learn of Gary's passing. I met Gary back in the early 80's at the Dry Dock, which was right behind Rocky Point Inn. I bought a Prindle 18 catamaran from him and he taught me the basics of sailing. I wound up buying another Prindle 18 from him a short time later after a storm blew my first boat into the dining room of the Inn. I remember Gary as a friendly person and a good guy. He organized races and regattas that I frequently attended. I remember Gary once gave me the honor of sailing with one of his friends, who at that time had recently won some world title in a Hobie 14. I have always thought of Gary, the Dry Dock, VJ's Ski School and Rocky Point Inn. It was a great time in my life and I'm happy Gary was my friend.

Such a tragedy to lose an adventurous soul so soon. Ron and I are saddened to hear such heart braking news. We're sad we didn't get to meet Gary. Rest well our angel friend! Prayers for all ❤
