SHANNON GOODSON, Jr., 59
LAKELAND - Herbert Shannon Goodson, Jr., 59, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Shannon was born April 17, 1958, in Lakeland, Florida to Norma and Herbert Shannon Goodson, Sr. and has been a lifelong resident. He attended Heritage Baptist Church.
Shannon is survived by his mother, Norma Goodson; sister, June Poxon (Vince); niece Casey Chandler; and partner, Jodi Bosin.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a chapel service at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Lakeland Funeral Home & memorial Gardens.

Shannon and family......I sometimes can be Long-winded.....so I will try to shorten this up a bit..... being an "only child".....there were times that I was so lonely and I think back when mom and dad would get together with Aunt Norma... Uncle Herb....Aunt Nita..... Uncle Bill and of course..... Aunt Vonia!!!!!.....I loved coming over to see you guys......and Even though it was many years ago, I remember that we always had so much fun.....with June Alice Paul and James Allen!!! ......then we all grew up somewhat๐๐ and took different paths .......but when we would get together once in a while....it would be.so much fun to reminisce about the past.....it's like we could start where we Left off!!!!!. anyway.....I Will Cherish the memories...I will always remember how much that you went through with all of the medical issues.....and still remained strong.....I admire you for that!!!!God bless you!!!!.... looking forward to seeing you again!!!!! Shannon....They say if you can count your true friends on one hand you have a lot of friends. I am honored to have been able to call you my true friend. You are gone too soon, I will miss my friend.

It's still so very unreal that you are gone. I looked to you not as only my uncle but also as a father figure. Anytime I needed help wether it was a problem with my car, helping me move into and out of a third floor apartment building that about killed us both and the many other times you've helped me move. You taught me many things about life, just the facts and you didn't sugar coat any of it.
You always welcomed me into your home, you always invited me to stay for dinner, you always kissed my goodbye and we would tell each other I Love You but you would finish your I love you off with "little girl" because that's what you called me most of the time.
You tortured me as a child by tickling me until I almost couldn't breathe and even though I always tried to get away I loved every minute of it.
I will miss our adventures out on the boat at beer can island, I will miss your annoying voice and most of all I will miss the unconditional love that you gave to me and it was truly unconditional love.

I will never let you be forgotten I will never stop talking about you. I will continue to share stories of all the fun and funny things we have done and will share the story of your strength and battle beating and BEATING cancer!!
As we always said you were a tough termite!
Rest easy now my uncle there's no more pain no more sickness
