LAKELAND - Mr. Jaime Francisco Montoya, 25, died of injuries from an automobile accident on October 2, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Lima, Peru on February 9, 1985. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. He was an avid runner and he enjoyed all sports especially football, hockey and basketball.
He is survived by his parents, Jaime M. and Maria Montoya, Lakeland; brother, Jose C. Montoya, Lakeland; sister, Veronica A. Montoya, Lakeland; Paternal grandfather, Jaime A. Montoya, Lima, Peru; Paternal grandmother, Beatriz Montoya, Lima, Peru; Maternal grandmother, Maria C. Parker, Santiago Chile; aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 809 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33801.

Got this awesome reminder email today to share some Jaime memories and I have a few that still stick with me often.
When Jaime wore his bright yellow puffy winter jacket he was so puffy tou couldnt help but want to hug and squeeze him. Hence his nickname Mr. Squeezy. I still remember the song we made up about him.
Any time someone breaks a car abruptly i think, "squirrel!" Since Jaime did that all the time and thought it was hilarious (even when others thought it was not).
He could make a fake smile face that I called a creepy clown face. It still cracks me up.
Anytime I hear the name Roethlisberger i say "Mmm delicious." Because he and I did that all the time.
He one time drove from Gainesville to visit me in Orlando and used nickels dimes and quarters to pay the tolls going back. It was so much change!
He gave me a bouquet of yellow and purple flowers freshman year of college because he knew those were my fav colors together. Reading through the comments here I see those 2 colors stuck with him later. Thats pretty cool.
When he started doing yard work my Dad called me whispering "i think Jaime is mowing my neighbors yard." He cracked me up so I made him go outside and say hi to Jaime.
He told me once after we broke up that one day he would give me the wedding ring I deserved and I still believe it. I'm quite certain he had something to do with my wonderful husband and wedding ring.
He was my first love and the only boyfriend to have so many inside jokes. We really made each other laugh like no one else.
Also, i think i preferred the Taurus over the Focus.

I am so sorry for your loss of Jaime. He was such a very nice person and always so polite. He has been doing our lawn for two years. When I found out he was born in Peru we had a talk about things being that my brother in law is from there. I just found out today when they came to cut the grass. I asked them where Jamie was and thought maybe he was on vacation. He was always here every Wednesday and was very dependable. When they told me I about cried. The world has lost a very special person and hard worker. Again I am so sorry and will keep him in my thoughts.

Los que pude compartir con en Tata en sus presentaciones, en sus campeonatos, yendo a clases en la mañana al colegio junto a sus hermanos. En las comidas, en las salidas, en Lake Land. I was just thinking back when we all first starting playing roller hockey and Craig and I would haul all our gear and our net and skate down to your house and play all day. That last minute throw together team with you and Craig and the other guys that won that tournament at Disney was a great memory. Jaime, you were my every day best friend. My phone would ring at random times during the day and it would be you texting me or calling to tell something hysterically funny. Only prayers to God can soothe/heal the pain that you (his family) must feel right now. I will keep you in my prayers. I remember sitting beside Jaime in class at Bartow High School/IB. He was such an awesome person. Veronica was one of the first students to introduce herself to me at George Jenkins. After meeting her, I knew she had the same qualities and characteristics as her brother (kind and helpful). My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Words cannot express the sorrow and pain we feel for the loss of your son, Jaime. Our family lost my brother,
Tom on this same date eight years ago from suicide, and my father passed a few months ago. Our hearts & prayers go out to you during this difficult time.
