Assembly of God MinisterLAKELAND -- The Rev. Jeff W. Taylor of Lakeland died of congestive heart failure Saturday (Jan. 15, 2005) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 80.Born in Wassau on Sept. 2, 1924, he came to Lakeland from Milton 30 years ago. He was a retired Assembly of God minister and pastored locally at Avon Park First Assembly of God and Westside Assembly of God in Lakeland. He was a member of the Peninsular Florida District of Assemblies of God. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post No. 4 and a member of the Lakeland Chapter of the AmVets. He was a member of Carpenter's Home Church in Lakeland.Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Taylor; daughters, Daphany L. Gunter, Woodbridge, Va., Deborah Ann Taylor, Lakeland; sons, Jeffrey Dane Taylor, Willard Derrick Taylor, both of Lakeland, Dennie Jeff Taylor, Thomson, Ga.; sister, Thelma Waldon, Pensacola; brothers, Joe Taylor, Panama City, Thomas L. Taylor, Columbia, S.C.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Trinity Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Carpenters Home Church in Lakeland.
