LAWRENCE GREGG Obituary

LAWRENCE L. GREGG

LAKELAND - Lawrence L. Gregg, age 66, of Lakeland, FL, passed away on May 28, 2016, due to heart failure. He was born on August 13, 1949, in Meadville, PA to his father, David and mother, Peggy (Carlson) Gregg. He was a graduate of Meadville High School, and later received his Associates Degree from Penn State University. He met his wife, Theresa (Labonowski) Gregg, while instructing at one of his martialarts schools. They were married in 1975, and moved to Florida in 1987, with their children.
He worked as a roofing contractor, draftsman, and consultant for most of his life. He was also a drummer, a little-league coach, and a youth tea-cher. Most recently, he was semi retired, while working as security at the Polk County Courthouse in Bartow, FL. Larry truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, traveling, playing cards, and snacking. He was an active member of Willow Oak Baptist Ch-urch, where he played the drums; combining his passions of serving the Lord and his love of music.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Terri; his three daughters, Krista (Gregg) Petruso, Cassie Gregg, and Brittney Gregg; his two sons, Jeremiah Gregg and Josh-ua Gregg; 5 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nie-ces, nephews, and cousins.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Larry touched are invited to a memorial service at Willow Oak Baptist Church, 3390 Willow Oak Rd, Mulberry, FL 33860, on June 7th, at 7:00pm.

I had the pleasure of knowing Larry while going to the court house for work. I saw him all the time I passed through the doors. He was the first smiling face you saw when you walked in. He would get so mad when the customers would give me and my co-workers a hard time. He always looked out for us. Every time I walked in, he would say, "Hey kiddo." Now, who will say that to me? It was a shock to hear that he is gone, but he will never be forgotten. He truly was a very kind hearted person, a very rare soul. You could just see his heart through his eyes...a very caring person. Everyone who knew him were very blessed to have known him. He will truly be missed every day. I know that he will always be watching over his family because I know he loved his family very , very much. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I am praying for all of you. Rest in peace Larry.

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Gregg at the Courthouse. He was kind and a sweet gentleman, always had a smile on his face and very friendly to everyone. He had spunk, he shared his band stories with us he was just an all around guy that brought joy to others. I will never forget Mr. Gregg, we meet people that are seasonal in our lives then you have Mr. Gregg he was a keeper for life. Rest in Heaven my friend you will be dearly missed by the ones that you encountered. To the family my prayers are with you, the world has truly lost a rare jewel. Officer Kelly-Lassi
