Roberta Hayes Obituary
Lakeland - Roberta Hayes, 81, passed away in on 6/8/2021.
A Florida native, she was born in Groveland in 1939 to parents Robert and Myra Smith. She was a longtime resident of Lakeland, having moved to the area in her early 20s.
Roberta worked for Auto-Owners Insurance as a Senior Underwriter for 37 years. She was a member of the Insurance Women of Polk County, as well as CPCU certified. Upon retirement, she developed an interest in real estate and became a realtor.
She was a fiercely devoted and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Roberta is survived by her son Jeff (and wife Mari) Smith of Orlando, and her beloved Calvary Baptist Church family.
Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church (1945 N. Florida Ave.) on Monday, June 14th, from 10-11:00AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Serenity Gardens in Lakeland (3350 Mall Hill Dr.)

Roberta has been a very good friend for more than 40 years. We worked together at Auto-Owners Insurance. Roberta helped many associates advance their careers (including me) by promoting continuing education. She had a love for God and family. She was a great mother to Jeff and a great friend to me. I will never forget the friendship we had. RIP my friend. I miss you.

As an Auto-Owners Agent for many years I've worked with Roberta on accounts, attended events with her, and, of course many Auto-Owners parties. I was always greeted with a smile and and kind words. I know she will be missed by many. Robert will certainly be welcomed home by open and out stretched arms.

Roberta was a strong and giving person. She always had a smile on her face, and time for everyone. She loved her son with all her heart and her fellow members of Calvary Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
