COOK, 90

BARTOW - William H. Cook, 90, died November 8, 2015 in Bartow, FL, after an extended illness.
Memorial services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bartow with The Very Rev. Gary Jackson officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
Mr. Cook was born on December 30, 1924 in Jackson, Mississippi and was the son of the late M.A. and Cary May Cook and he was also preceded in death by a sister Maxene Wilbanks. Mr. Cook graduated from Summerlin Institute in Bartow. He then attended Marion Military Institute where he left to serve in the United States Marine Corps. He served three years in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he attended and graduated from Clemson University in 1948 with a degree in agriculture and played on the tennis team. He was very active in the community, his work and the Church and was a charter member of the May Bluff Hunting Club. He was recently inducted by the Polk County Historical Society as a Polk Pioneer and has been known by many in this area for his ties to the Citrus and Florida Fertilizer Industries. He enjoyed tennis, hunting and fishing especially with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Judy, daughter and son-in-law Nancy Love and Robert Fisher of Lakeland, Florida; son and daughter-in-law William H, Jr. and Katherine Cook of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren Robert (Bo) and Sara Fisher, Victoria and Jon Davis, William and Kim Cook, Christopher and Raeanne Cook, and John Cook of Lakeland, FL; great grandchildren Kelsey, Lindsey, Chloe, Kylie, and Colbin Cook and Webber Davis and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials/donations be made to the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Bartow. Reception to follow the service. Condolences may be made to the family at

We have such wonderful memories of Mr.Cook/Bill from days gone by. Such a happy man, full of fun for all. Manelle told me of his passing. We are so sorry for your loss. Patty Leman Catanzarite and the Leman Family.
