My heartfelt sympathy to Dr. Rodriquez's family. I had the privilege to know him for over 25 years and he was a gentleman. He was dedicated to Mission Hospital and its staff and caring for his patients. He earned his place in heaven long ago.

My husband and I would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Jesus Rodriguez Aguero. We pray that all of you are comforted that he is reunited with his family members who have gone before him, especially his wife whom he more than once told me he missed a great deal.

To us, he epitomized what a great doctor and surgeon should be. He was calm and reassuring as he probed and palpated to find the source of the problem. He was very caring, listening to our layman's questions and answering them without being offended by them. He was full of wisdom, knowing when to proceed further with testing and never performed surgery as a first-choice treatment for me. He was very quiet and comforting as he checked on me both before and after surgery.

We believe that being a willing servant of God made him this way and that God worked through his practiced surgeon's hands making them an instrument of healing.

To the family of Dr. Jesus Rodriguez,
My condolences to his family in their loss. And to the Valley's loss as well. Where do I start, Dr. Rod was a Awesome Dr, he will be deeply missed and I doubt that no one could fill his shoes. All I know any surgery coming our way , with my family, there was no other doctor that came to mind than , other than Dr Rodriguez. I too had the privilege to have surgery w/ Dr Rod. I'm a 14yr breast cancer survivor. I heard the same thing everyone is saying he's the master of surgery, no matter his age his hand is as steady as they come. He will be deeply missed and I know he is smiling down on all of us. Because that was him always with a smile.

I was very sorry to learn of your father's death. He and your mother were great friends and neighbors to my parents and family. He and my father had a particularly good friendship, both personal and collegial. Your dad frequently comes up in our conversations. In addition to being a fine surgeon and a good man, he was a funny guy. I have such a clear image of him and my father laughing it up out by the pool.

I also had the good fortune to be his patient. Having surgery is not a pleasant experience but his care made it okay. He frequently visited my father while he was hospitalized at the end of his life. My father and all of us really appreciated that.

All the best to the Rodriguez family from Ruth, Patty, Luis, Adrian, and Carlos Quintanilla

I want to thank this man for so many reasons.
I had the privileged opportunity to work with him 13 years at Mission Regional Medical Center ICU . Dr. Rodriguez was compassionate and he was a GOD at what he did . As a person Dr. Rodriguez was caring ,always happy and he loved communicating with people . He always took his time to listen to every single one of his patients . Not only did I get to know Dr. Rodriguez as a coworker . On the personal side as a doctor who helped my family in three different occasions in which two of them were seriously life threatening / critical . No other doctor could figure out what was going on for weeks ,but with Dr. Rodriguez he just came into the room and asked where are you hurting he would touch you and then he would say this is what's wrong with you but we'll do a CT scan to verify and I will see you later in OR and that is all it took. That is how good he was at his job because he loved it and cared for his patients.
Words can not describe how much Dr. Rodriguez means to my family , especially to me . With great respect and gratitude may he RIP. Our condolences to his family from our family . Dr. J. Rodriguez will greatly be loved , missed and for always be remembered .

I still remember your beautiful whistling while you operated on an elderly lady's lung cancer. The year was about 1987 and I was a resident doctor in training at the time. We were at the Harlingen Chest Hospital and it was a Wednesday. We were in the middle of the thoracic surgery when the hospital had a blackout in the OR and we were in complete darkness for over an hour. The circulating nurse found a tiny flashlight somewhere and we finished the surgery with this tiny light. Dr Jesse whistled a gentle and soothing song to keep us all calm. I did not panic because I was assisting this master surgeon and I stayed calm. He did a perfect job because he was a master surgeon. Weeks later the lady brought us a complete cabrito dinner and tortillas to thank the OR staff and she was so grateful! He had volunteered her surgery free of charge. The elderly lady was very grateful. I always admired his professionalism, his kindness, his generosity to the poor and his love of teaching residents. May God welcome you with open arms into HIS kingdom of heaven doctor Jesse.... thanks again! ❤.
