Jose is survived by his wife: Maria Del Carmen (Garza) Hernandez; children: Jose (Veronica) Hernandez, Erika (Lawrence) Schwegler , Danette (Rafael) De la Tejera and Hiram (Kristel) Hernandez; siblings: Carmen Gonzalez, Alicia Zamora, Juan Diego Hernandez, Manuel Hernandez, Estella De La Rosa and Adelina Hernandez. And is also survived by his 10 Grandchildren.
Jose retired from the City of Pharr after working for 21 years.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen. Cremation services will follow. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen. www.riverafuneralhomes.net

I keep waiting for you to come through the door. Smiling. Making a comment on the weather, or talk about your tree, a plant, something you read or something a grand kid did today. Your conversations were always amusing and fun to listen to. I didn't know the last one was the last one- I wish I would have listened closer, stayed longer, told you I loved you. I do, so much, and miss you so! Please know, that I was proud to be your daughter and I will try to continue making you proud with your grandchildren. Be at peace, Godspeed.
