Michael Castillo Obituary

Edinburg - Michael "Mike" A. Castillo, Sr. 61, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at McAllen Medical Center.

In 1993, he co-founded Mike's Loading Service, which for several years, was the largest Hispanic-owned truck brokerage business in the state of Texas. Before his passing, he opened a local office for Jillamy, Inc., an agent of MODE Transportation.

His leadership and positive vision motivated many people to have success in not only business, but in building their faith in the Lord. His infectious personality would make strangers leave as instant friends and family. His presence lit up any room he entered. His ability to mentor and lead people helped jumpstart the careers of those fortunate enough to meet him.

He was an outstanding husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, friend, leader, and son.

His legacy will continue to live through those he impacted throughout the years we had with him.

In his own words, "Book it!", "Let's Go Team!" and "LOVE!!"

He is preceded in death by his father, Moises Castillo; and his father-in-law, Leonardo Camarillo.

Mr. Castillo is survived by his wife, Norma L. Castillo of Edinburg; four children, Mark (Iannelli) Castillo, Michael Anthony (Dezarae) Castillo, Jr., both of McAllen, Jaclyn (Bubba) Solis, Matthew Castillo, both of Edinburg; his mother, Lydia Castillo of Edinburg; four siblings, Norma (Jim) Daniel of Greenville, SC, Cynthia (Daniel) Diaz, Vivian (+Ray) Villarreal, Karen (Cesar) Barreiro, all of Edinburg; also survived by the Gomez, Gaona, and Camarillo families.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton Rd. in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Lonesome Dove Ranch in Edinburg.
