OPAL PAULINE WHITE
DONNA - Opal Pauline White, age 90, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Edinburg Nursing and Rehab Center in Edinburg. She was born on January 10, 1920 in Jennings, OK. She and her husband moved to the Valley in 1975.
She worked at the Ok Sewing Machine Company in Omaha, Nebraska for ten years as a bookkeeper & professional seamstress. She worked as a ticket clerk in the Donna ISD for three years. She taught third grade at Grace Community School in Pharr, TX for about four years. She also volunteered for years at the Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Edinburg. Her hobbies included crocheting, plastic canvassing, collecting dolls and stuffed animals.
She was survived by daughters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Kingan, Kay (George) Green both from Donna, TX; by six grandchildren, Gwen Cotton, Lillie (David) Bucholz, Kim Wood, Georgina (Gina) Bresett, Jeffery Green, Dayton Paul (Aimee) Green; by seven great-grandchildren, Amanda (Brad) Cotton-Ferrer, Jessica and Thomas Cotton, Raelene and Justin Bucholz, Geri (Loren) Surley, Logan and Charity Wood, Jacqueline "Jaci" Wisely; and by five great-great-grandchildren, Maleigha Bishop, Elijah Cotton, Aliese Kuhn, Autumn Wisely, Ayden Wood.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm, Thursday, November 18th at the First Baptist Church 201 E. Samano in Edinburg.
Services are entrusted to Skinner-Silva Funeral Home of Pharr.
