Michael Sandy Obituary

Michael Richard Sandy, 59 of Newport, VA departed this life Wednesday, October 12, 2022, after a four-year battle with Dementia in the care of Pheasant Ridge Nursing and Rehab. Born on September 27, 1963, in Alma, Michigan. Mike loved his beautiful family dearly, but his pride and joy may have been his 1968 Camaro. Mike loved his Camaro to the very end and found happiness when tinkering and toying with it. He was an active man that loved fishing, boating, or snowmobiling on Michigan's amazing lakes. As his age grew, Mike loved driving around and viewing the scenery of the breathtaking Appalachian Mountains. Occasionally, he would shoot skeet and target fire at the local shooting range. Mike was an engineer at Federal-Mogul for 30+ years and always took pleasure in being sent on work trips to foreign nations. Mike loved learning new things and seeing how different countries function. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sandy, and Lois (Wiles) Sandy; Father-in-Law Thomas Camp; and Sister-in-Law Amy (Camp) Gross. Left to cherish his memory to their hearts are his wife, Kristi Sandy; children, Chazz McDaid of Michigan, AJ Ebright of Peterstown, WV, and Kenyon Sandy of Newport; sisters, Cathy (Bob) Morris, Jenni Huntoon, and Kristine (Kevin) Hiebert; grandsons, Garrin McDaid and Torrin McDaid; and granddaughter Maddix McDaid. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 1-3 p.m. A guestbook is available for sending condolences by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com. The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Sandy family.
