Burdette Nord Obituary

FREMONT: Burdette "Bud" A. Nord, Sr., 78, of Northcrest Ave., Fremont, passed away on May 12, 2009 at Memorial Hospital.
He was born on October 30, 1930 in Fremont to Arthur W. and Marian (Adams) Nord.
Bud graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1950. He married Loretta F. Quinn on May 2, 1958 in Cambridge, MA and she passed away on April 3, 2006.
Bud served in the US Navy for 22 years serving during the Korean Conflict, Cuban Crisis and Vietnam War. He received the Navy Occupational Service Medal with Europe Clasp, United Nations Service Medal, two National Defense Service Medals, five Good Conduct Medals, the Korean Service Ribbon and the Vietnam Service Medal. He then worked for Kelsey-Hayes in the maintenance department for 16 years until he retired.
He was a member of Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, Fremont V.F.W., Eagles and Moose. He enjoyed Fremont Ross High School Athletics, boating and was a race car fan.
Bud is survived by his children, Burdette A. (Vickie) Nord, Jr., Fremont, Kenneth W. (Janice) Nord, Quincy, IL, John W. Nord, Dallas, TX, Kathleen M. (Tony) Wright, Fremont; sisters, Nora Smith, Norwalk, Jo Ann Shaffer, Fremont; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Loretta Nord; sister, Betty Carr.
Visitation: Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont.
Service: Friday, May 15, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery with a Military Graveside service provided by the American Legion and V.F.W.
Memorials: Fremont Ross High School Athletic Boosters or Fremont Moose Lodge.
