Barbara C Bambini

Barbara C Bambini, 74, of Radcliff, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at her home from complications resulting from an extended battle with cancer surrounded by family members.

Born in Dothan, Alabama, she had lived in Hardin County since 1984.

Although not a mother herself, Barbara's biggest joy was seeing her stepchildren, her grandchildren and her niece and her children grow and mature.

Barbara had a distinguished career earning numerous awards for outstanding service to the military, working for a U.S. defense contractor for 16 years at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida and then more than 25 years of service to the U.S. Army as a civilian at the Armor School at Fort Knox. She retired from Fort Knox in 2012 as the chief of information - instructional technology.

She served until just recently and for more than 10 years as the secretary/treasurer of the Hilltop Terrace Homeowners Association. She enjoyed home gardening and being outdoors. She spent much time with her husband assisting with development efforts at the Saunders Springs Nature Preserve.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Adrian; her two stepchildren, Geoff, and his wife, Kristen, and their four children, Madison, Mason, Drew and Gia, all of Virginia; Stacy Kuhn and her husband, Tom, of Upton and their two children, Henry Jandl and Scott Bambini; a sister, Linda Metcalf of North Carolina and her family, Sheila and Lucas Metcalf Tobin of Berkeley, California, and their two children, Magnolia and Josiah; and two sisters-in-law, Sandra Newsom of Oakland Park, Florida, and April Rosenau of Tallahassee, Florida.

A service to reflect on her life is at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff. Barbara will be laid to rest in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, and continues at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
