Carlos Eugene Mudd

1945 - 2025

Carlos Eugene Mudd, 80, of Big Clifty, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at his home.

He was born March 16, 1945, in Caneyville, the son of the late Garland H. and Lue Ella Sanders Mudd.

Carlos worked at Dow Corning in Elizabethtown and retired after 36 years of employment. He was a member of the Butler County Beagle Club and Grayson County Cattleman's Association. He graduated from Caneyville High School, where he played basketball on the varsity team. Carlos was a strong and loving husband to his wife of 55 years, Billie Bradley Mudd, whom he married on March 20, 1970. He loved his children very much. He was the biggest cheerleader of his three grandkids. To others, Carlos was a friend, co-worker and cousin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and running rabbit dogs with his grandson, Deavin. He also coached softball. Carlos was a true blue Kentuckky basketball fan until Coach Rick Pitino left the school. He was a longtime member of Pleasant Union United Baptist Church (Old Wilson).

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Laverne; and a nephew, Christopher Nash.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Mudd of Big Clifty; two children, Jodie Hester (Jeffrey) of Leitchfield and Bryan Mudd (Sabrina Hughes) of Big Clifty; three grandchildren, Deavin Hester (Hannah Schuler) of Texas, Brylee Hester (Luke Decker) of Leitchfield and Elli Hester of Alabama; a brother, Donald Mudd (Martha); an aunt, Laura V Mudd; a former sister-in-law, Nowanda Mudd; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Brother Jerry Weedman officiating. Burial follows in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Big Clifty.

Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. CDT Friday and continues from 9 a.m. CDT until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
