Thomas Weir

Thomas Perry Weir, 96, of Jasper, Georgia, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at The Retreat at Jasper.
He was born October 24, 1927, to Joseph Nathaniel Weir Sr., and Nora Sutton Weir in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Called Tom by most of his "Georgia" friends, and Perry to family in Tennessee,  he loved family gatherings, golf and his Tennessee Vols. Tom served as Plant Manager at Universal Carpets in Ellijay until retirement, moving to Georgia from Red Bank Tennessee in 1971.  Tom was full of life, and always ready for any adventure.  
Tom served his Lord as an Elder at the Church of Christ in Blue Ridge Georgia for many years, and later at Northside Church of Christ in Jasper, Georgia.
Known as "Gran Gran" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was loved by all. Truly one of the best of the greatest generation and the embodiment of a life well lived.
Thomas is survived by his children, Carol and Larry Morris of Greyson, Susan and Gary Ross of Douglasville, Jeffrey Weir of Cumming; grandchildren, Mandy Long (Charlton), Katie Morris, Shelly Pope (Ken), Luke Ross, Jackson Weir, Lindsey Weir; great-grandchildren, Cayley Ross, Lauren Ross, Landon Pope, Alyssa Pope; sister, Ruth Weir of Chattanooga; and brother, Joe N. Weir, Jr. of Hixson, Tennessee. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
He was preceded in death by wives, Elizabeth Weir and Sandra Weir.
Funeral services were held at 11a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2024, in the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory with Minister Terry Burress officiating. Interment followed at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia, at 1:30 p.m.
The family received friends at Roper Funeral Home Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
The family will accept flowers or memorial donations may be made to Northside Church of Christ in Jasper in Thomas' memory.
Arrangements were entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home.
