Carolyn Chambers Obituary

Carolyn Ann Willis Chambers

Funeral services for Carolyn Ann Willis Chambers, 74, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 2, 2017 in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Stan Wyatt and Rev. Charles Headrick officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.

Mrs. Chambers went to be with the Lord, Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 20, 1942 and was a native of Winnsboro, LA. She was referred to as "Canny" growing up as she was the baby of the family. After coming to Northeast Louisiana State College in 1960, she met her husband, James Charles Chambers and they were married in 1961. Shortly afterward they began having their four children.

Mrs. Chambers worked a number of years for Soil Conservation Service in West Monroe, LA. She volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady at St. Francis and as a volunteer with Caring in Action in Bossier City while living there. She loved her Lord, her family and her church until health made it impossible to attend. She loved doing for others and with health permitting had a "buttermilk pie" and "card ministry". She was a member of College Place Baptist Church and was a Jr. High Sunday School teacher for years. Carolyn loved her daily crossword puzzles and it would bother her until she solved them all. She also had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed singing in the choir. Most of all Carolyn was a loving devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and prayer warrior for friends, church members, and the bereaved. Carolyn adamantly read her "big full underlined bible" three times daily. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her heart and she will always be missed but will be forever in our hearts and souls.

Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Willis; brothers, Bill and Coy Willis; and sister, Marie Capers. Mrs. Chambers, as of last year, outlived every member of her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, James Charles Chambers; daughter, Chalica Chambers Thompson; sons, Chris Franklin Chambers, Chuck Chambers, Dr. Craig Chambers and wife Nancey; grandchildren, Jeremy Thompson, Josh Thompson and wife Erin, Christian and Laurel Chambers, Caleb and Luke Chambers, Christi Chambers Austin; and one great grandchild, Cason Austin. Carolyn's grandchildren were her "Meme's darlings."

Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service time Monday at the Mausoleum Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College Place Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
