Jeffrey Suhr (his shepherd and friend), and Rev. Andrew Frey officiating. Interment will be in the Town of Clayton Cemetery. Lloyd's family will receive relative and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 9-10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Lloyd's name.

An Epitaph: Lloyd Thede received his formal introduction to the Gospel of Christ under the tutoring of Rev. Louis E. Mielke (WLS 1921). Confessing that he believed the Word that he was a redeemed sinner through faith in Christ's redemptive work, he was baptized as a young teen in the name of the Triune God.

He brought to be baptized the children God had given him, believing Christ's promise; "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Heeding Paul's admonition that "faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ," he faithfully brought his family to weekly worship services.

He was then introduced to Rev. Hans W. Koch (WLS 1922) who began leading his family through a thorough historical study of Scripture. All five children, confessing faith in God's promise of salvation through faith in Christ, were confirmed by Rev Koch.

Lloyd Thede would leave this legacy: Remain in Christ. "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."

I can't believe it's been a year since we lost Lloyd to heaven. I think of him often and remember what a fun teacher he was. With the last name of Arnold I always sat in the first desk next to Lloyd's podium. We used to joke around and laugh, but then when he was displeased he'd give "the look" with one raised eyebrow. I can picture it still. He's the only teacher from my past that I kept in touch with and remained friends with. I know he's in a better place (can't beat heaven!) but all his friends and family who loved him miss him.
Remembering Lloyd with great fondness and love.

He was my principal in the early sixties. While in the 4th grade I got sent to his office by my exasperated teacher for not doing schoolwork. He sat me down and pointed to a door behind which he claimed was a closet full of rulers for spanking disobedient kids. I totally believed him. I think he owned a really cool Corvette.

Just learned that our dear family friend Lloyd Thede friend passed away. He touched so many lives and leaves a legacy of faith for so many who loved him. Lloyd was a special friend to my Dad, Richard Dale Nilson (Dick), who worked with Lloyd in Neenah School District, and spent time hunting together among other things. Our Dad passed away on December 21, 2015. See you in heaven Lloyd and thank you for your incredible friendship! Say hello to Dad for us. Dear Family , our lives were intertwined for many years. Oh, the many memories of living out in the country with all of you helping us get into the country mode. Can you remember all the Tripoli games, the hay making, wood chopping, mule getting, suppers, snow storms....on and on. All good times that made us who we are and what we became. His smile tells it all....a good person ,a friend to many, enjoyed life....We wish we could meet all those precious grandchildren, I'm sure he was proud.

Thinking of all of you and hugs to each, as you celebrate Lloyd's life. Prayers and blessings, Bob and Cheryl Floriano

Uncle Lloyd had a great sense of humor, I always remember laughing at something he said. I have fond memories as a child of being out at the house/farm. I am so sorry for your loss, I cannot imagine your devastation. I am sending hugs/thoughts and prayers to all that loved him.

Tracey and Alex,
A sunset on earth is a sunrise in heaven. What a comfort it is to know that he is safe in heaven and that we all will see him again someday! Your dad/grandpa was such an awesome person to have a conversation with. He loved you both dearly. We are in North Carolina with our son and his family at this time and will not be back in time for the visitation/funeral. Just needed to let you know our thoughts and prayers are with you.

As a beginning educator starting out as a substitute, Mr. Thede was often my supervisor at Coolidge School. He was so very patient, kind and confidence instilling that 32 years later I still remember him. Peace, comfort and blessings to all of his family knowing that the Lord is saying, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
