Thomas Pier Obituary

Thomas Daniel Pier Nov. 2, 1948 - Oct. 24, 2006. Dan was born in Olympia, Washington to Thomas F. Pier and Irene (Morgan) Pier. Dan passed away at home with his mom and wife by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan was preceeded in death by his father and both grandmothers, Mary Morgan and Sannie Davis and grandson Cody Allen. He is survived by his mother, Irene Pier; wife of 35 years, Dreanna; one son, Shane Thomas Pier (Yvonne) of Tenino; Daughters, Andrea Kuerst of Tenino, Kimberly Johnson of Shelton and Debora (Matt) Doig of Ft. Carson, Colorado; brother, Arthur Pier of Olympia; 17 grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dan worked on restoring cars, he loved semi-truck races, monster trucks, hunting and fishing. His special thing was taking the sail boat out and watching the fire works every year at Lake Fair. He worked for AMCOR as a lead maintenance mechanic. He had been past president of Olympia Eagles #21, and enjoyed many years of dart playing. He enjoyed his special times with all his grandchildren. There will be a celebration of his life at Tumwater United Methoditst Church on October 27th, 2006 at 1:00p.m. The family would like to thank Capital Medical Center, St. Peters 3rd floor nurses and doctors, ambulance drivers and Western Washington Oncology Cancer Research Center, with a special thanks to Trish in the treatment center and Jean in research. Also to all of the hospice people, especially JoAnna. A special thanks to all of Don's close friends that were there for him through the long battle.
